What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind that combines relaxation and concentration with heightened awareness. We experience hypnosis several times a day - we just don't realise it. Watching an absorbing film or day-dreaming are examples of our everyday experience of hypnosis.

What does it feel like?

The experience will differ for everyone. Most often you just feel very relaxed and calm. People often expect something dramatic to happen when experiencing hypnosis but often at the end of the session they will say that they didn't feel hypnotized, just very relaxed and that's exactly what hypnosis is.

Can everyone be hypnotised?

Yes. If you can relax and follow instructions you can enter a state of hypnosis.

Will I be in control?

Yes. No one can be hypnotised against their will, so if you choose not to be hypnotised, you won't be. You can't be made to do anything outside your own value system. You will remain in control at all times. You will decide whether and when to enter trance, you decide to accept the suggestions put to you, and you decide to open your eyes if you want to.

Can I become stuck in hypnosis?

No, you are always in control. If I stop talking and you remain in trance, you will arouse naturally and easily, just as you would from sleep.

Are there any side affects?

The worst possible side affect is that you could allow yourself to become too relaxed and so fall asleep, or you could open your eyes. You will be in total control of your trance experience. On the other hand, the best possible side effect that you will notice is a complete alleviation of the problem you’re trying to resolve, and the knowledge that you were able to create your own success.

Is it dangerous?

No, you are perfectly safe as hypnosis is a naturally occurring process anyway.
